Connectivity Kit Update Screen (Universal Connectivity Board)
The Connectivity Kit Update screen provides information about the Universal Connectivity Board (UCB). UCB is a hardware connectivity kit that retrieves data from STERIS equipment and sends it to the ConnectCare service portal. How your account was setup determines if you can see the Connectivity Kit Update link that allows you to access the Connectivity Kit Update screen.
Software updates are automatically downloaded into a UCB as needed. Before a UCB can use an update, it must be rebooted, which is done while the equipment it is connected to is idle. The UCB continues using the old version of the software until the reboot happens. Neither the software download nor the reboot require operator assistance.
NOTE: The Default Update Schedule column on the screen lists when an update will be attempted. You can change the day and time of the update using the Modify link in the column.
The Connectivity Kit Update screen has three tabs:
- Home — Displays the status of software updates
- Update Log — Lists previous versions of updates, their release dates, and notes
- FAQ — Lists frequently asked questions about UCB
To open the Connectivity Kit Update screen, perform the following steps. The information shown under each tab is displayed below the steps along with a table that explains the contents.
Steps
Step 1. Go to the Dashboard screen.

Step 2. Click on the Connectivity Kit Update link located on the bottom of the second column. The Connectivity Kit Update screen displays with the Home tab selected.

ITEM | DESCRIPTION |
UNIVERSAL CONNECTIVITY BOARD SUMMARY | |
Latest Software | Specifies the name or version number of the latest UCB software upgrade. It also shows the number of devices with UCBs that have been updated with the latest software. |
Pending Update | Number of devices with UCBs that have downloaded the software update, but are waiting to be rebooted or the update schedule has been adjusted by a user. A reboot can only occur when the device the UCB is connected to is idle. The reboot occurs automatically, without operator assistance. NOTE: The reboot takes approximately 15 minutes. We recommend that the equipment connected to the UCB being updated not be used while the reboot is taking place. |

Connected Status column | Indicates if the equipment is online or offline.

UCB Version column | Specifies the latest UCB software upgrade that was attempted for this device and whether or not the upgrade was successful |
Default Update Schedule column | Day and time the next software update of the device’s UCB is scheduled to occur. There is a Modify link in this column that allows you to change the day and time of the update. |

To see a history of software updates, click on the Update Log tab in the Connectivity Kit Update screen. Below is an illustration of the screen and a table that describes the screen.
